Happy Travel Thursday everyone.
I’ve lived in Colorado since 1987. In all the years I’ve lived here, I’ve never once gone skiing. Not to say that I haven’t spent time at the ski resorts, I’ve just never put a set of snow skis on.
For several years, the wife and I would spend our wedding anniversary in the mountain ski town of Breckenridge, Colorado. The altitude there is around 10,000 feet. We stopped going there after a while because the lower oxygen levels that high up was affecting us to the point we were having difficulty breathing.
I still go there from time to time. Lots of beautiful mountain scenes and wonderful people, but it is harder to do the anniversary trips these days due to the responsibilities of caring for Trudy’s elderly mother. It’s a major production to for us to go anywhere together as someone has to stay home.
These days, the wife and I take turns doing the things we like to do. It’s okay though. I have my things, the wife has hers. It’s the time at home together we enjoy and knowing that we’ve done everything we can for her mom is satisfaction enough. As one grows older one learns to adapt.
Today’s travel photo is from one of our anniversary trips to Breckenridge. Taken at sunrise on a cold November morning.
